Large diameter water meter material

2025.2.14

Common materials for large-diameter water meters include stainless steel and ductile iron. ‌

Stainless steel water meters are widely used in large-diameter water meters due to their excellent corrosion resistance and high strength. Stainless steel can effectively resist corrosive substances in water and is suitable for use in various environments, especially in chemical plants or high-temperature environments. ‌

Specifically, 304 or 316 stainless steel can cope with acidic and alkaline environments and have a longer service life.

Ductile iron water meters are also commonly used in large-diameter water meters. This material has good mechanical strength and corrosion resistance and is suitable for urban fire protection, factory metering, farmland irrigation, municipal pipe network reconstruction and other occasions.

Choosing a suitable large-diameter water meter material requires considering the specific needs of the use environment. In chemical plants or high-temperature environments, stainless steel is a better choice; in situations where high strength and corrosion resistance are required, ductile iron is more suitable. ‌
